In April 2016, I plan to share the 101 Things I Love Most About Beansprouts (this will coincide for what will be my 1-year anniversary at our amazing school); however, one of the first things on my list deserves more than a simple bulleted tab next to her name.
This is because the first thing I love about Beansprouts is Ms. Jasmine, the Lead teacher in the Infant room.
I loved this because I knew I wanted to work someplace that practiced the highest level of care.
I also saw something that (even 10 months later!) I have never forgotten: the look in that child’s eyes was pure, unadulterated, true love as he looked at Jasmine.
I loved this because I knew that I wanted to be someplace where there was love.
Without a doubt, that baby (and all babies I have seen with Jasmine over the past year) was most truly and utterly IN LOVE with his caregiver. Do you know when you see love like that in childcare? You see love like that when your babies are so well cared for and loved and respected that they reflect that same love back to their caregivers.
In the 10 months I have been at Beansprouts, I have seen so much more that I love about Ms. Jasmine. She invites older siblings to come visit their baby siblings. She is funny and understanding and a good listener. She likes to play games with the older children and has the best pirate voice when she reads books to our children. She is a positive and patient lead to her assistants and encourages them to be a part of the planning and activities in the classroom. She cares for all of her babies with the highest attention of care and the highest form of pure love.
Whenever I walk into that Infant room, I see the love and remember why I said yes to joining the Beansprouts team. Being a teacher who leads first with love, finding a place where love grows and shines was number 1 on my list.
